What is Mongolian cashmere?Updated 4 days ago
Mongolian cashmere is the fine, soft undercoat of cashmere goats raised in Mongolia. This undercoat helps protect the animals during cold winters and is collected by hand combing during the spring shedding season.
Cashmere is closely connected to Mongolia’s herding traditions. Many herder families move seasonally with their animals, adapting to pasture, water availability and weather conditions.
The fiber is valued for its softness, warmth and lightness. In a finished garment, its feel and warmth also depend on the fiber blend, fabric weight and knitted or woven construction. Comfort against the skin varies from person to person.
